"Arrested Development" could be heading to Netflix, Hulu

By Sean O’Connell Hollywoodnews.com: With news reaching the wires that “Areested Development” would be returning to TV for a limited number of episodes as it sets up a movie, one of the questions that needs to be answered revolves around where the shows will air. FOX canceled the cult program years ago, so we’d assume they are out of the running. And now, it looks like Netflix and Hulu are the top contenders for the rights to air the new episodes. Vulture digs into the behind-the-scenes negotiations, saying Showtime and Netflix stepped up to the plate at first, but later were joined in the fray by Hulu about making a play for the TV side of this intriguing equation. “Insiders familiar with the talks between Hulu and [20th Century Fox] tell Vulture that Hulu has gotten 100 million streaming impressions from ‘Arrested Development’ clips, episodes, and outtakes since Hulu started in 2008,” the site adds. “Clearly both companies think that the one site offering new episodes should prepare for a fan onslaught.” Those same sources say that it’s “unlikely” the new “AD” will end up on FOX, and FX has not been in the discussion, either. Fans are waiting to see where they’ll have to go to see the continuing story of the Bluth clan. Hopefully we’ll know soon enough. Hollywood News on Twitter for up-to-date news information.
